ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES

Hello everyone, i hope you are well! In this last post i’m going to talk about my experience learning english and the English languages challenges.

Well, i have to say that english has always been hard to me. I never had a good learning process of English in my school. In this sense, i never learned to pronounce correctly, and i never learned to speak English fluently.

In the university my experience learning english has been good sometimes bad. I mean, i have had difficulties and sometimes the English course has been an extra burden. However, i think that now i can write in English more easily (maybe with some grammatical mistakes jaja).

In this sense, the blogs has helped me to practice my writing. Writing a blog every week is useful because it's a constant practice. Moreover, i enjoyed writing on different topics.

About the aspects of my english that need to be improved, i believe i need improve my pronunciation. Also my listening comprehension. To improve these aspects i downloaded an application called Duolingo. I hope everything turns out well. I will also try to watch videos in English with subtitles in the same language, i have told me that is a good way to learn English.

Outside the English class, i usually using English for listen to music, and for read post in English (sometimes).

Well, that's all. What do you think about english? Is it difficult or easy for you? Tell me in the comments.

CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Hi! How are you? In this blog i will talk about my study programme and what i would change.

Well, this theme is really a complex but i have some ideas about it. I believe that universities can provide additional development opportunities to complement academic curriculum. In this sense, the english program ofreced by Faculty of Social Sciences is an activity that complement my academic curriculum.

The Faculty of Social Sciences also oferss CFG, artistic, sports and cultural courses, which are co-curricular activities. There is a great variety of these courses but have not relevance in the job market. That's the problem. The University of Chile should certify some co-curricular courses (maybe the CFG).

I think the workload is too much, in special in the context of the distance education. It's difficult reconcile personal life and academic life, which a problem because we are not student all time! In this sence, traditional teaching methods are insufficient. More innovative and didactics methods need to be implemented.

About the length of studies, i like my university career but i think is very long. In other countries you get bachelor degree in six semesters, and masters degree in four semesters.

On the other hand the faculty infraestructre is small and poor. The classrooms are in poor conditions, and the cafeteria is very small for the number of students. I hope authorities can improve these deficiencies.

Lastly (and the more positive for me jaja) i know the faculty has computer labs. This is good because social sciences students need computers to do study.

Well, that's all. What do you think about your study programme? Tell me in the comments.

POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Hello everyone, i hope that you are well! In this blog i will talk about my academic future.

In other blogs i wrote that i am a sociology student. In a few years i will graduate and the options are work, take a course postgraduate studies or both. In this sense, if i decide taking a course after graduate, the subjcet that i would like studie are genre studie. Applied statistics in social sciences is other subjects that i would like studie.

I would like studie in the abroad, maybe in Canada. But first i must learn english, it's important... I have to motivate myself to overcome this goal. If i can't study abroad, i wouldn't be sad to study in Chile. I consider that this it's not bad option.

Definitely i wish classes face-face, maybe blended system, but not learning distance. This year's experience (and last year's) is enough to rule out that option, the academic load is too much for me.

One of the reasons for i would like study genre studies is because it is a determining topic for society. We -the sociologists- have to know the importance of feminism.

I also believe that it's important make visible the actual situation of women. The people no longer differentiate between nineteenth-century feminism or current feminisms.

Have you thought about taking a course after you graduate? Tell me in the comments.
